Spanish wine tasting with dinner

Two hours at the long table of a family-owned wine shop near Las Setas, where the owner is a trained sommelier and the food keeps coming until it becomes dinner.

The shop sits on a side street and looks the way a wine shop should: shelves from floor to ceiling, ladders to reach the top bottles, a blackboard listing what is open today. This is where people in Seville come to buy their wine, and it is one of our favourite rooms in the city.

Six Spanish wines are poured in turn — bold reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, crisp whites, elegant rosés, and bottles from Andalucía and Catalonia that rarely leave the region. With every wine comes the food chosen to flatter it: artisan cheeses, Iberian ham, olives, bread still warm, seafood bites and other local specialities. It is not a few morsels alongside the glass; most guests leave having had dinner.

The tasting is hosted by the sommelier who owns the shop — his cellar, his suppliers, his knowledge of Spanish wine. He explains grapes, regions and how to taste, and answers whatever you ask. We arrange the evening for you, and we are glad to come along to translate and fill in the story around it.

The room takes a maximum of fourteen guests, which is part of the point: everybody gets to talk to the sommelier. Book it privately for your party, add it to a longer programme, or let us build an evening around it with dinner or flamenco afterwards.
