Seville is a city you can walk straight through without understanding what you are looking at. This is the walk that fixes that.

We collect you at your hotel or apartment in the centre and walk out into the old town: Santa Cruz with its narrow streets and small squares, the monuments you have read about, and the corners Gunvor passes every week that carry a history most visitors never hear.

The stories are what make the difference — who built what and why, what stood there before, and how three cultures laid themselves over one another in the same street. Gunvor has lived here for more than thirty years and tells it the way she came to know it, not read off a script.

Halfway through we sit down in a traditional bar — a place she goes to herself, not a tourist stop — for Iberian ham, hand-made cheese and a glass of wine, with the story behind each: where the ham comes from, why the acorns matter, and how it is cut and served. This is the point where the walk stops being sightseeing and becomes something you remember.
